Overview

Registered in 2000, 'Wassup' is a large, fast-growing hybrid of *Hosta* 'Ruffles' distinguished by its upright habit and variegated foliage. The leaves are substantial, reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in length and 8 inches (20.3 cm) in width, with light green margins that contrast against the darker leaf centers.

In the Garden

This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, where its large, textured leaves create a bold presence. At maturity, it forms an upright clump suitable for mid-border or as a specimen in woodland gardens. Its substantial size pairs well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its broad foliage.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges.
