Overview

Registered in 1986 by J. Harrison and the American Hosta Society, *Hosta* 'Susy' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. Its distinguishing features include dark green leaves with some marginal undulation and five pairs of veins per leaf.

In the Garden

'Hosta' reaches a mature diameter of 28 inches (71.1 cm) and a height of 12 inches (30.5 cm), making it suitable for the front of shaded borders or rock gardens. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small hostas. Its compact size also makes it appropriate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. As with most hostas, monitor for slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
