Overview
Registered in 2007 as an open-pollinated seedling of *Hosta* 'Little Boy', 'Pro Tek Tor' is a large, mound-forming cultivar notable for its extreme size and intense blue-green foliage. The leaves are broadly ovate to nearly round with cordate bases, bearing a very shiny, glaucous bloom on both surfaces and very slightly rippled margins.
In the Garden
'Pro Tek Tor' forms a substantial mound reaching 48 inches (121.9 cm) in height and 96 inches (243.8 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. Its heavy glaucous coating provides good blue color retention in partial to full shade, though the bloom may diminish in deep shade. The large, corrugated leaves pair well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and fine-textured groundcovers; the plant is too large for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release formulation. The thick, glaucous leaves show moderate slug resistance, though standard slug control measures are advisable in moist conditions. Typical hosta-growing zones are suitable.
