Overview
Registered in 2007 by an unknown breeder, 'Princess Pat' is a self-pollinated seedling of *Hosta* 'Clyde's Birthday'. This large cultivar is distinguished by its broad, creamy white leaf margins that contrast sharply with a dark green center, which is further overlaid with variable shades of light green and pea green near the midrib.
In the Garden
'Princess Pat' forms a substantial clump reaching 19 inches (48.3 cm) in height and 46 inches (116.8 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, where its wide, non-melting cream margins remain stable. Its large, broadly ovate leaves with cordate bases make it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders, paired with ferns or astilbes.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
