Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Tokudama Flavoplanata' registered in 1997, 'Princess Diana' is a small, slow-growing cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with contrasting gold margins. The leaf blade is very shiny on the upper surface and slightly shiny beneath, with a rounded base and flat, medium blue-green margins approximately 0.25 inches (0.6 cm) wide surrounding a yellow-gold center.

In the Garden

'Princess Diana' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 8 inches (20.3 cm) in height and 15 inches (38.1 cm) in diameter at maturity. Its small size and slow growth rate make it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. It pairs well with other small hostas, ferns, or shade-tolerant groundcovers in partial to full shade.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor regularly and take protective measures if needed.
