Overview
Registered in 2008, this large cultivar resulted from a cross between *Hosta* 'Dorothy Benedict' and *Hosta* 'Dorset Clown'. It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate green leaves with gold margins, which display variable yellow to light green streaking and slightly rippled, lightly wavy edges.
In the Garden
'Hosta 'Pretty One' forms a mound-like clump reaching 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or in mixed perennial borders. The striking variegation provides contrast when paired with ferns, heucheras, or fine-textured shade grasses.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are recommended, as both pests may damage the foliage.
