Overview
Registered in 2010 by R. Kuenster of the American Hosta Society, 'Pitty Pat' is a small, fast-growing hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate, variegated leaves with light green, slightly rippled margins, a pointed tip that angles downward, and a lightly twisted, folded, wavy, and corrugated texture.
In the Garden
'Pitty Pat' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter. It is suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging in partial to full shade, and performs well in containers due to its small size. Companion plants include small ferns, heucheras, or other miniature hostas that share similar light and moisture requirements.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Pitty Pat' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
