Overview

Registered in 2011 by an unknown breeder, *Hosta* 'Pisces' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its narrow, lance-shaped leaves with dark green, slightly rippled margins and a moderate twist. The leaf surface is slightly shiny above and dull beneath, with five vein pairs, and the scape is green with red speckles, reaching 11 to 15 inches (27.9 to 38.1 cm) in height.

In the Garden

'Pisces' forms a compact mound 5 inches (12.7 cm) tall and 19 inches (48.3 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. Its small size and wavy foliage make it suitable for the front of a border, rock gardens, or container cultivation in partial to full shade. Companion plants may include small ferns, heucheras, or other miniature hostas that complement its narrow, variegated leaves.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Pisces' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
