Overview
Registered in 2010 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Hadspen Blue', 'Pinani Splash' is a small hosta distinguished by its blue-green leaves with highly variable gold margins. The leaf blades are nearly round with cordate bases, lightly corrugated, and exhibit a glaucous bloom on both surfaces; the margin width fluctuates markedly from leaf to leaf, and the surface becomes lightly dimpled at maturity.
In the Garden
'Pinani Splash' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching approximately 27 inches (68.6 cm) in diameter and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its small size makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
