Overview

Registered in 2007 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Piedmont Gold', 'Piedmont Honey' is a large, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by its tri-colored leaf margins. The broadly ovate, corrugated leaves are blue-green with gold margins that intensify during the growing season, developing streaks of medium green and light green; the leaf surface is dull above with a glaucous bloom beneath.

In the Garden

'Piedmont Honey' reaches a mature spread of 60 inches (152.4 cm) and a height of 28 inches (71.1 cm), with upright foliage. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or in mixed borders, though it is not recommended for container culture due to its dimensions.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor regularly and use barriers or deterrents as needed.
