Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Green Piecrust' registered in 2000, 'Piecrust Promise' forms a large mound distinguished by its variegated foliage: medium green leaves with a dark green, slightly rippled margin approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide. The leaf surface is dull above and slightly shiny beneath, with a flat base and 15 to 16 pairs of veins.
In the Garden
'Piecrust Promise' reaches a mature spread of 57 inches (144.8 cm) and a height of 30 inches (76.2 cm), making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its moderate growth rate and substantial size allow it to pair effectively with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The green scapes, 30 to 36 inches (76.2 to 91.4 cm) tall, bear typical hosta flowers in midsummer.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
