Overview
Registered in 1997 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Paul's Glory', 'Pete's Passion' is a large, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaf centers with broad gold margins. The leaves are cordate-based, dull on both surfaces, and measure up to 11.75 inches (29.8 cm) long by 8 inches (20.3 cm) wide, with 11 vein pairs and slightly rippled margins.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height and 41 inches (104.1 cm) in diameter, with scapes rising 30 to 34 inches (76.2 to 86.4 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where the gold margins remain bright without scorching. Its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of shaded borders, paired with ferns or shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry spells, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, it may be susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
