Overview
Registered in 2005 as a seedling of *Hosta* 'Galaxy' with unknown pollen parent, 'Peacock' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its blue-green leaves with white margins and an unusual multicolored streaking pattern that includes light green, greenish-yellow, yellow, and creamy white tones. The foliage is broadly ovate with cordate bases, deeply corrugated, lightly cupped and twisted, and bears a glaucous bloom on the undersides.
In the Garden
'Peacock' forms a mound-like clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 26 inches (66.0 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-green hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials that complement its variegated foliage. The moderately unruly habit and multicolored streaking make it a specimen of interest in mixed borders or woodland gardens.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
