Overview

Registered in 1986 by H. Weissenberger, this small blue-green hosta originated as a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Blue Cadet'. Its distinctive features include a compact, rounded form with cordate leaves that display a single undulation along the margins, reaching equal length and width of 4.25 inches (10.8 cm) with ten vein pairs.

In the Garden

'Pauline Brac' forms a low, dense clump 7 inches (17.8 cm) tall and 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging along pathways. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small woodland perennials. Its compact size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitoring and protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
