Overview
Registered in 2005 as a sport of an unnamed parent, *Hosta* 'Patricia' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with greenish-yellow margins. The broadly ovate, lightly wavy leaves measure approximately 5 inches long and 3.5 inches wide, with eight vein pairs and a dull surface on both sides.
In the Garden
'Hosta' Patricia reaches a mature spread of about 18 inches (45 cm) and a height of 8 inches (20 cm), forming a compact, moderate-growing mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and is well suited to small borders, rock gardens, or container cultivation due to its diminutive size. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and other small woodland perennials.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Patricia' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in garden settings.
