Overview

Registered in 2016, *Hosta* 'Pathway Foundling' is a small, fast-growing cultivar of unknown parentage distinguished by its viridescent leaf centers that transition from light yellow to green as the season progresses. The broadly ovate, dull-surfaced leaves feature dark green, slightly rippled margins and exhibit a combination of cupping, twisting, folding, waviness, and corrugation.

In the Garden

'Pathway Foundling' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging along pathways. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its leaf coloration develops fully, and pairs well with small ferns, heucheras, or other diminutive perennials. Its small size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, monitor for slug and deer damage, particularly on the tender new foliage.
