Overview
Registered in 1995, *Hosta* 'Party Time' is a small, fast-growing cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Nooner' and *H.* 'Sparkling Burgundy'. Its most distinctive features are the dark green leaves with heavy, rippled margins and a very shiny surface on both sides, combined with red scapes that rise above the mound.
In the Garden
'Party Time' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or tiarellas. Its small size and fast growth rate also make it an effective groundcover in shaded areas.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage, so monitor regularly and employ control measures as needed.
