Overview
Registered in 2016, *Hosta* 'Parchment Paper' is a large cultivar resulting from a cross between *H. 'Paradise Joyce'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Purple Haze'* (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate leaves that undergo a seasonal color progression from chartreuse to lemon-yellow, ultimately maturing to creamy white with occasional green tips, all framed by creamy white flat margins.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms an upright clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 25 inches (63.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to light shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, where its pale leaf coloration can develop without scorching. The muted foliage tones make it a suitable companion for darker-leaved perennials such as ferns or heucheras, and its medium-large size suits mid-border or woodland garden positions.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in spring as leaves emerge and color transition begins. Fertilize lightly in early spring with a balanced formulation; as with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed preventively.
