H. ‘Misty Morning’

Overview

Registered in 1986 by Kuk's Forest Nursery, 'Misty Morning' is a small hosta cultivar derived from a hybrid of *Hosta venusta*. It is visually distinctive for its variegated foliage, featuring light green margins and a bloom on the underside of the leaves.

In the Garden

'Misty Morning' reaches a mature size of 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter and 5 inches (12.7 cm) in height, with individual leaves measuring 4 inches (10.2 cm) long and 3.25 inches (8.3 cm) wide, bearing seven vein pairs. This small hosta is suitable for partial to full shade and pairs well with other shade-tolerant perennials such as ferns or heucheras. Its compact size makes it an excellent choice for container cultivation or rock gardens.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage the foliage, and deer may browse the leaves in typical hosta-growing zones.
