Overview

Registered in 1996 by M. Soules, this large, stoloniferous cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta sieboldiana*. It is visually distinctive for its medium green leaves with translucent, slightly rippled margins and a slightly shiny upper surface, forming a substantial, rounded mound.

In the Garden

'Hosta' 'Marge' reaches a mature spread of 37 inches (94.0 cm) and a height of 16 inches (40.6 cm), making it suitable as a specimen or in mixed borders. It thrives in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its moderate growth rate and stoloniferous habit allow it to fill space gradually. It pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it may be susceptible to slug and deer damage.
