Overview
Registered in 1988 by Walters Gardens, Inc., *Hosta* 'La Vista' is a medium-sized sport of *Hosta* 'Fortunei Hyacinthina'. It is visually distinctive for its green leaves with creamy white margins, borne on cream-colored scapes that rise 28 to 32 inches (71.1 to 81.3 cm) high.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a clump 22 inches (55.9 cm) in diameter and 18 inches (45.7 cm) tall, with leaves 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide bearing 9 to 10 vein pairs. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white margins remain crisp and the green center does not fade. 'La Vista' pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials, and its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded rock gardens.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'La Vista' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
