Overview
Registered in 2003, 'Justa Gigolo' is a medium-sized hosta of unknown parentage on the pollen side, raised from a seedling of *Hosta* 'Dorothy Benedict' seedling #95-18. Its most distinctive feature is the unstable variegation of the leaf margins, which display streaks of creamy white, white, or lime against a medium green blade.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound 24 inches (61.0 cm) tall and 52 inches (132.1 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical for variegated hostas, and is suitable for the middle of the border or as a specimen plant in woodland gardens. The 7.5-inch (19.1 cm) long, cordate leaves are slightly twisted and wavy, with a lightly rippled margin and a slightly shiny upper surface.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing season. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed as needed.
