Overview
Registered in 2003, *Hosta* 'Jupiter' is a sport of *Hosta* 'August Moon' that produces a large, mound-shaped clump. Its distinctive foliage consists of blue-green leaves with a thin glaucous bloom and wide, flat, golden yellow margins.
In the Garden
'Jupiter' reaches approximately 45 inches (114 cm) in diameter and 18 inches (46 cm) in height at maturity, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, and its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders. The gold margins provide contrast when paired with green or gold-foliaged companions such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, 'Jupiter' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
