Overview

Registered in 1999 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Sitting Pretty', 'Junior Miss' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by dark green leaves with narrow, creamy white margins. The leaf blades reach 4 inches (10.2 cm) in length and 2 inches (5.1 cm) in width, with four vein pairs, a slightly shiny upper surface, and a dull underside.

In the Garden

'Junior Miss' reaches a mature spread of 10 inches (25.4 cm) and a height of 6 inches (15.2 cm), with scapes extending to 12 inches (30.5 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its compact size makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants include small ferns, heucheras, and dwarf astilbes.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Junior Miss' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed.
