Overview
Registered in 2006, this large hosta of unknown parentage is distinguished by its substantial blue-green foliage with a pronounced glaucous bloom and upright, vigorous habit. The broadly ovate leaves, measuring 11 inches (27.9 cm) long by 7 inches (17.8 cm) wide, are lightly cupped with cordate bases and flat margins, bearing 15 to 17 pairs of veins.
In the Garden
'Judy's Amazing Grace' performs well in typical hosta-growing zones, maintaining its upright stance and moderate growth rate even in dry shade. At maturity, plants reach 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, making them suitable for mid-border positions or as specimen plants beneath deciduous trees. The blue-green foliage pairs effectively with golden or chartreuse-foliaged companions such as *Hakonechloa macra* 'Aureola' or *Carex* 'Evergold'.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during establishment; once mature, this cultivar tolerates drier conditions better than many hostas. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges, and monitor for slug damage in wet seasons, though the glaucous leaf surface offers some resistance.
