Overview

Registered in 1988 by K. Vaughn, this small hosta cultivar resulted from a cross between *H. 'Flamboyant'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Sum and Substance'* (pollen parent). The plant is distinguished by its green leaves with creamy white margins, a color pattern inherited from its lineage.

In the Garden

Mature plants reach 14 inches (35.6 cm) in diameter and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height, with scapes rising 20 to 24 inches (50.8 to 61.0 cm). As a small hosta, it suits the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or dwarf astilbes.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
