Overview
Registered in 2005 by J. Husemann as a sport of *Hosta* 'Antioch', 'Jessica Lynn' is a large, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by blue-green leaves with wide, greenish-yellow to chartreuse margins that remain stable throughout the growing season. The leaf blades are ovate with cordate bases, measure up to 13 inches (33.0 cm) long and 8 inches (20.3 cm) wide, and bear 9 to 10 pairs of veins; the upper surface is slightly shiny, while the underside displays a glaucous bloom.
In the Garden
'Jessica Lynn' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 28 inches (71.1 cm) in height and 56 inches (142.2 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its substantial leaves and fast growth rate allow it to compete effectively with surrounding perennials such as ferns, astilbes, and shade-tolerant grasses. The chartreuse margins provide season-long contrast without fading, though the plant is not suited to container culture due to its large mature size.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate deterrents in typical hosta-growing zones.
