Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek of the American Hosta Society, this medium-sized cultivar is a sport of *Hosta* 'Christmas Gold'. It is visually distinctive for its intensely blue-green leaves with creamy yellow, rippled margins, a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, and arching scapes that hold flowers barely above the foliage.
In the Garden
'Hosta 'Jason and Katie' forms a mound-like clump with leaves 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where the glaucous bloom is best preserved. Suitable companions include ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials; its medium size makes it appropriate for border fronts or woodland gardens, though it is not recommended for containers due to its spreading habit.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry spells, especially in the first growing season. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release formula. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and control as needed.
