Overview
Registered in 2010, *Hosta* 'Jammin' is a medium-sized sport of a seedling derived from *H. 'Gold Crown'* (streaked) × *H. 'Green Sheen'*. Its most distinctive feature is the pronounced color contrast between dark blue-green leaves and creamy white margins that exhibit extensive green speckling, a pattern that identifies it as a streaked version of *H. 'George M. Dallas'*.
In the Garden
'Jammin' forms a dense, slow-growing mound reaching 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height and 38 inches (96.5 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to light shade, where the blue-green leaf centers and white margins maintain their strongest contrast. The moderate leaf waviness and light corrugation add textural interest when planted near finer-textured perennials such as ferns or heucheras. Its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shade gardens.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season to establish the root system. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Jammin' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitoring and protective measures are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
