Overview
Registered in 1999 as a selfed sport of a variegated form of *Hosta* 'Christmas Tree', 'Jacqueline's Banner' is a large, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its dark green leaves with exceptionally broad (2 in / 5.1 cm), pure white margins. The leaf blades are dull on both surfaces and exhibit slightly rippled edges with a flat base.
In the Garden
'Jacqueline's Banner' reaches a mature height of 24 in (61.0 cm) with a spread of 26 in (66.0 cm) and a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, where its bold white margins remain most stable. The substantial leaf size and strong contrast make it effective as a specimen or in mixed shade borders with ferns, heucheras, and other broad-leaved perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or deterrents.
