Overview
Registered in 1999, 'Ivory Coast' is a sport of the popular cultivar *Hosta* 'Sagae'. It is visually distinctive for its large, light green leaves with broad, creamy white, slightly rippled margins, a color pattern inherited and refined from its parent.
In the Garden
This large hosta reaches a mature size of approximately 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hostas, where its variegated foliage brightens woodland borders and shade gardens. It pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials; its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a shaded border.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While moderately resistant, monitor for slug and deer damage in susceptible areas.
