Overview
Registered in 2016, 'Island Splendour' is a large hosta cultivar of unknown parentage, with *H. 'Midas Touch'* as the pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with greenish-yellow, slightly rippled margins, and a glaucous bloom on the leaf undersides.
In the Garden
'Island Splendour' forms a substantial, upright clump reaching 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height and 50 inches (127.0 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and its large, ovate leaves with cordate bases make it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders. Given its size, it is not suited for containers and pairs well with other shade-tolerant perennials such as ferns or astilbes.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as both pests may damage the foliage.
