Section classIV-4a

Overview

Registered in 2006, 'Irish Pastures' is a sport of a seedling of *Hosta* 'Bravo'. This small cultivar is distinguished by its lance-shaped leaves with greenish-yellow centers and heavily rippled, creamy white margins, forming a dense, mound-like habit.

In the Garden

'Irish Pastures' reaches a mature size of 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its compact size makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or containers. Companion plants such as ferns or heucheras complement its muted foliage tones.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release formula. Like many hostas, 'Irish Pastures' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed.
