Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek of the American Hosta Society, *Hosta* 'Innisglow' is a sport of the popular *Hosta* 'Inniswood'. This medium-sized cultivar is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaf centers bordered by golden yellow margins, a color combination that reverses the typical gold-center, green-margin pattern of its parent.
In the Garden
'Hosta' Innisglow' forms a mound-like clump reaching approximately 20 to 26 inches (50.8 to 66.0 cm) in height when in flower, with individual leaves measuring 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green centers remain most pronounced, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded foundation plantings.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the broad, glaucous leaves are attractive to both pests.
