Overview
Registered in 1996, this medium-sized cultivar is a sport of *Hosta* 'August Moon', distinguished by its medium gold leaves with wide, light green, slightly rippled margins. The leaf blade measures 7 inches (17.8 cm) in length and 6 inches (15.2 cm) in width, with 8 to 10 pairs of veins, a cordate base, and a slightly shiny surface on both sides.
In the Garden
*Hosta* 'Indiana Moonshine' forms a mound-like clump reaching 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, where the gold leaf centers remain brightest; too much sun may scorch the thin leaves. Its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions, paired with ferns, *Heuchera*, or other shade-tolerant perennials with contrasting foliage colors.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially in warmer climates. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitor and use barriers or repellents as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
