Overview

Registered in 2006 as a sport of a *Hosta* 'Bravo' seedling, 'Indian Summer' is a small-sized hosta distinguished by its golden yellow leaf centers bordered by creamy white, slightly rippled margins. The leaves exhibit a two-tone yellow to light green splashing in the center, with a broadly ovate shape, slight cupping, and moderate twisting and folding.

In the Garden

'Indian Summer' forms a mound-like clump reaching 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the yellow centers retain their color without scorching, and is suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture due to its compact size. Companion plants such as ferns, *Heuchera*, or small grasses complement its variegated foliage.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage the foliage, though the slightly corrugated leaf surface offers some resistance; deer are known to browse hostas and may require protection in areas with high pressure.
