Overview
Registered in 1989 by D. Savory, this medium-sized cultivar resulted from a cross using *Hosta* 'Black Hills' as the pod parent. 'Indian Hills' is visually distinctive for its dark green leaves with undulating margins, each blade displaying approximately ten vein pairs and a variegated pattern.
In the Garden
Reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, this plant forms a compact, rounded clump suitable for partial to full shade conditions. The medium size makes it appropriate for border fronts, woodland gardens, or as an accent among other shade perennials such as ferns and astilbes. Its leaf dimensions of 7 inches (17.8 cm) long by 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide provide substantial textural presence without overwhelming smaller spaces.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hosta cultivars, though the undulating leaf margins may offer slight resistance to minor feeding.
