Overview

Registered in 2010 by R. Kuenster (AHS), *Hosta* 'I Bluit' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its narrow, lance-shaped blue-green leaves with a glaucous bloom and lightly wavy margins. The plant forms an upright mound 11 inches (27.9 cm) tall and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, with leaves reaching 5 inches (12.7 cm) long and only 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) wide, bearing 5 to 7 vein pairs.

In the Garden

'I Bluit' performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and reaches a mature spread of approximately 18 inches. Its compact size and narrow foliage make it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. Pair with fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns or heucheras to complement its upright, linear form.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in garden settings.
