Registered in 2014 by an unknown breeder, *Hosta* 'Hot Topic' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with gold margins that exhibit a greenish-yellow splash of pure yellow, creating a variegated effect. The broadly ovate leaves, measuring 8.5 inches long and 5.5 inches wide, feature 12 vein pairs and a slightly rippled, wavy margin, with a dull texture on both surfaces and a cordate base.

'Hot Topic' forms a mound-like clump reaching 23 inches in height and 30 inches in diameter, with a moderate growth rate, making it suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its medium size and striking variegation pair well with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials in borders or woodland gardens. The green scape, which grows up to 22 inches tall, supports the foliage without overwhelming the plant's compact habit.
