Registered in 2013, 'Heavy Duty' is a large, mound-forming hosta cultivar resulting from open pollination of *Hosta* 'Electrum Stater'. It is visually distinctive for its intensely corrugated, broadly ovate leaves with dark green flat margins and a slightly shiny surface on both sides.

This cultivar reaches a mature diameter of 37.5 inches (95.3 cm) and a height of 19 inches (48.3 cm), forming a dense, mound-like habit with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones, where its heavy substance and corrugated texture provide resilience. It pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials, and its large size makes it a strong specimen or border plant.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry spells. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick, corrugated leaves offer good slug and deer resistance, though monitoring is advised in high-pressure areas.
