Overview
Registered in 2016, *Hosta* 'Glossy Ruffles' is a large, variegated cultivar of unknown pollen parent, with *H.* 'Invincible' as the pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its intensely wavy, broadly ovate leaves with medium green, heavily rippled margins and a very shiny upper and lower surface.
In the Garden
'Glossy Ruffles' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height and 45 inches (114.3 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and benefits from consistent moisture. Its large, glossy foliage pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade perennials; its substantial size makes it unsuitable for containers.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing season. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
