Overview

Registered in 2005, 'Capitol Hill' is a sport of an unnamed parent, distinguished by its dark green leaves with narrow, light green, flat margins. The medium-sized cultivar forms an upright, moderately corrugated mound with slightly glossy, pebbled foliage.

In the Garden

This hosta reaches 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and spreads to 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, with a slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for variegated hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials. Its upright habit and moderate size suit it for mid-border positions or as a specimen in woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer deterrents may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
