Overview

Registered in 2004, *Hosta* 'Zipper' is a miniature cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, derived from *Hosta* 'Chartreuse Wiggles'. It is distinguished by its extremely narrow, lance-shaped leaves of medium blue-green, which are lightly wavy and possess only two to three vein pairs, giving the foliage a fine-textured, almost grass-like appearance.

In the Garden

With a mature spread of 22 inches (55.9 cm) and a height of 8 inches (20.3 cm), 'Zipper' forms a low, dense mound suitable for the front of a border, rock gardens, or trough plantings. It performs best in partial to dappled shade and, given its miniature size, is an excellent candidate for container culture. Its fine, wavy leaves contrast well with broad-leaved companions such as *Heuchera* or small ferns.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protection from slugs and deer may be necessary in typical hosta-growing zones.
