Overview
Registered in 2003, *Hosta* 'Za Za Zoom' is a large, mound-forming cultivar derived from a seedling of *Hosta* 'Gold Standard' with an unknown pollen parent. It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with lime to deep yellow, slightly rippled margins, and for the highly variable yellow shades that appear across the foliage.
In the Garden
'Za Za Zoom' reaches approximately 26 inches in height and 52 inches in diameter, with a medium-fast growth rate that produces a substantial, rounded clump. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, where the glaucous bloom on the leaf undersides remains most pronounced. Its large, broadly ovate leaves with cordate bases and light corrugation make it a suitable specimen for woodland borders or as a groundcover in shaded beds; it pairs well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage can occur; monitor regularly and use barriers or repellents if needed.
