Overview
Registered in 1991 by H. & D. Benedict, this medium-sized cultivar was produced from a cross between *Hosta* 'High Fat Cream' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Flamboyant' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its green leaves with gold margins, the margins exhibiting light yellow, several undulations that create a rippled effect along the leaf edge.
In the Garden
Mature plants reach approximately 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height with a spread of 26 inches (66.0 cm), placing it in the medium size class. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas, and the gold margins are most pronounced with some morning sun. The 9-inch-long, 7-inch-wide leaves with cordate bases and 11 vein pairs provide substantial texture; this cultivar pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its scape height of 27 inches (68.6 cm) elevates the flowers well above the foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the broad, undulating margins may be attractive to both pests.
