Overview
Registered in 2015, this small hosta cultivar originated as a streaked sport of *Hosta* 'Grey Cole' crossed with *H.* 'Kifukurin Ubatake'. It is visually distinctive for its intensely blue-green leaf centers with golden yellow streaks extending into the slightly rippled margins, creating a pronounced variegation pattern.
In the Garden
*Hosta* 'Wonderful Life' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) in height and 15.25 inches (38.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, and is well suited to the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings due to its small size. Companion plants with contrasting foliage textures, such as ferns or fine-leaved woodland perennials, complement its broad, ovate leaves.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate management may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
