Overview
Registered in 2009 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Praying Hands', 'Wings of a Prayer' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its dark green leaves edged with pure white margins that remain stable throughout the growing season. The foliage is lance-shaped with tapered bases, moderately cupped, lightly twisted, and deeply folded, with slightly shiny upper surfaces and very shiny undersides.
In the Garden
This upright, moderately growing hosta reaches approximately 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded to partially shaded beds. Its white-margined leaves provide contrast when paired with ferns, heucheras, or other green-leaved perennials, and its compact size suits small garden spaces or the front of mixed borders.
Care Notes
Plant in well-drained soil with consistent moisture, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
