Overview
Registered in 2010 from unknown parentage, *Hosta* 'Who Dat' is a large cultivar distinguished by its unusual leaf coloration: a whitish yellow base with green pigment concentrated between the veins, creating a reticulate pattern, and a gold margin. The leaves are ovate with rounded bases, lightly wavy margins, and dull surfaces on both sides.
In the Garden
'Who Dat' reaches a mature spread of 30 inches (76.2 cm) and a height of 20 inches (50.8 cm), with upright scapes rising 30 to 36 inches (76.2 to 91.4 cm). It performs best in partial to dappled shade, as is typical for hostas, and its moderate growth rate suits mixed perennial borders or shade gardens. The large, patterned leaves provide textural contrast when paired with ferns or fine-leaved woodland plants.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Who Dat' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
