Overview
Registered in 1978 by P. Aden, this large hosta cultivar resulted from a cross between *H.* 'Sun Glow' and *H.* 'Gold Cup'. It is visually distinctive for its broad green leaves with wide golden cream margins, a color pattern that persists through the growing season.
In the Garden
Reaching 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height and spreading to 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter, 'White Vision' performs best in partial to full shade, where its variegated foliage remains most vibrant. The large, heavily textured leaves—each 10 inches (25.4 cm) long and 8 inches (20.3 cm) wide with 12 vein pairs—create a bold groundcover effect when planted in groups. It pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and take protective measures if these pests are present in the garden.
