Overview
Registered in 1978 by P. Aden, this large hosta cultivar resulted from a cross between *Hosta* 'Bold One' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Flamboyant' (pollen parent). The plant is distinguished by its green leaves with white margins, the margins described in the registration as yellow and white over dark green, creating a variegated appearance.
In the Garden
Mature plants reach approximately 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height. The leaves are 10 inches (25.4 cm) long and 8 inches (20.3 cm) wide, with ten vein pairs. This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for variegated hostas. Its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen plant or in mixed shade borders, where it pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, requiring appropriate management in areas where these pests are prevalent.
